Most people travel to Naples, Florida to shop on Fifth Avenue.
With boutique shops and charming scenery, one can hardly blame them.
For those who enjoy the unusual though, there is a way to enjoy
incredible shopping laced with a bit of old world Irish charm.
Imagine stepping back in time, to an era of pampering and hospitality.
As you enter the Inn on 5th, the first thing that you notice is
its elegance. The staff greets you warmly before whisking you away to your large room or
even larger suite. And from your window, you have an amazing view of 5th Avenue's
exclusive shops and boutiques.
The Inn boasts five handicapped accessible rooms with large roll in
showers, and the staff is on call to see to whatever special needs its guests may have.
After settling in, guests can head next door to McCabe's Irish Pub,
one of Naples' little known treasures.
McCabe's is an enormous Irish tavern, built in Ireland and transported
over to the states, by Phillip McCabe.
"I envisioned an Irish pub - authentic, but sophisticated,"
said Philip McCabe, CEO.
And he did an amazing job of accomplishing just that.
From transporting his pub, to renovating the back of the restaurant
from an old bank vault into a wine room, that John Gaddi would have appreciated, McCabe's
vision has been transformed into a reality.
The pub was broken down into two pieces and shipped to Miami, then
driven to Naples and recreated. To add to it's ambience, he even flies in Irish students,
who wish to do their internships in the States.
Now onto the food, which was outstanding.
Start your meal off with a pint of Guinness, poured to perfection.
After tasting it, I had to ask why it appeared to be so much smoother than the ones I had
tried before. They explained that Guinness must be served at 38 degrees and poured over a
two minute period to be a true Irish Guinness beer.
Satisfied with that answer, I enjoyed sipping the fine brew while
eating the best fish and chips ever. The fish was crisp and flaky and the chips hardy.
My companion devoured his heaping dish of Irish stew in minutes and we
both capped off our meal with their delicious Irish Whiskey cake.
Later we walked off our meal, by strolling down 5th Avenue and peering
into the eclectic shops.
