Peter Sommer is a freelance travel writer, photographer, and
filmmaker.
Peter studied Ancient History & Archaeology at
Birmingham University in England before completing a Masters on the archaeology of Central
Asia.
He fell in love with Turkey, in 1994, while walking 2,000 miles from
Troy to the battle of Issus; retracing the route of Alexander the Great. For this epic
journey he received The Explorers Club of America Young Expeditioners' award.
Since 1994, Peter has written for a variety of newspapers including
The Times, Brisbane Sunday Mail, South China Morning Post, and magazines such as The
Travel Magazine, The Good Holiday Guide, Cruise Magazine, Abroad, and Current World
Archaeology.
Peter also runs a specialist travel company, Pete Sommer Travels, taking small
groups on archaeological tours and cruises in Turkey.
Alexander

In 1994 archaeologist and film-maker, Peter Sommer, walked 2,000 miles across Turkey,
