First edition of Katara Photography Festival opens:

The inaugural edition of the Katara Photography Festival, which opened on Wednesday, is a feast to eye and intellect featuring an exhibition of stunning images by five known photographers in Doha and around the world who will conduct a series of photography workshops. Visitors to the photo exhibition being held at Katara Building 19 will witness a wide variety of innovative styles and unique perspectives that can be gleaned from the rich body of works of photographers from Germany, Lebanon, Qatar and the Philippines.



International Center of Photography Moving to Essex Crossing:

Barely a year after relocating its flagship to 250 Bowery, New York's International Center of Photography has announced yet another move. In 2019, the museum will move to Essex Crossing, a new $1.5 billion dollar mixed-use development from SHoP Architects on the Lower East Side, which is expected to reach completion in 2024.

IT specialist Allan Todd Cameron, 54, of Sydney Street, Gateshead, who until recently ran glamour photography company Primeval Edge and claims to have done hundreds of photo shoots since 2009, appeared in court in handcuffs on Thursday charged with 17 offences, including four counts of sexual intercourse without consent and eight counts of indecent assault. Mr Cameron is accused of bringing the three women, aged between 19 and 24, to the studio in his shed between 2012 and 2017.

A 54-year-old Newcastle photographer has been charged following reports from several models that they were sexually assaulted during photoshoots. NSW police began investigating complaints against the man after a 19-year-old woman told police she was sexually assaulted during a photography session at a studio in Sydney Street, Gateshead, in June.
